New England Lobster Roll
Ingredients:
- 1 pound cooked lobster meat (freshly cooked and picked, or frozen and thawed)
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning (or your favorite seafood seasoning)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 4 split-top hot dog buns
- Chopped fresh chives or parsley for garnish (optional)
- Lemon wedges, for serving
Instructions
-
Prepare the Lobster Meat: If you have fresh lobster, cook it according to your preferred method (boiling, steaming, or grilling). Once cooked, remove the meat from the shells and chop it into bite-sized pieces.
-
Create the Lobster Salad: In a bowl, combine the mayonnaise, melted butter, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and Old Bay seasoning. Mix well until you have a smooth and creamy dressing.
-
Mix Lobster with Dressing: Add the chopped lobster meat to the dressing and gently toss until the lobster is well coated. Be careful not to break up the lobster meat too much.
-
Season and Chill: Season the lobster salad with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 15-20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
-
Prepare the Hot Dog Buns: In a separate skillet or griddle, melt a small amount of butter over medium heat. Place the split-top hot dog buns on the skillet, inside down, and toast them until they become lightly golden and slightly crispy.
-
Assemble the Lobster Rolls: Spoon the chilled lobster salad into the toasted hot dog buns, generously filling each one. If desired, garnish with chopped fresh chives or parsley.
-
Serve and Enjoy: Serve the New England Lobster Rolls immediately, accompanied by lemon wedges on the side for squeezing over the lobster salad.
